Giulia Biffi Cancer Research UK, Cambridge Institute United Kingdom

I received my Master’s degree in Biomolecular Sciences and Genetics from the University of Pavia, Italy. My Ph.D. dissertation was completed with Sir Shankar Balasubramanian at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute. During my post-doctoral training, I furthered my interest in characterising the biochemical differences between normal and malignant cells by studying the signalling pathways active in the microenvironment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). I joined the CRUK Cambridge Institute as a Junior Group Leader in January 2020. The main research interests of my group is to deepen the understanding of PDAC biology to guide patient stratification and development of tailored therapeutics. Specifically, we aim to understand how crosstalk between heterogeneous fibroblast and malignant cell communities impacts PDAC progression, metastasis formation and cachexia.
