SendegulYildirim
I am an Assistant Professor of Histology and Embryology at the Faculty of Medicine, Ufuk University, Turkey, and a postdoctoral researcher with a strong translational focus in cancer biology. My research primarily centers on tumor progression and metastasis, with particular emphasis on 3D spheroid and organoid models, tumor microenvironment interactions, and the preclinical evaluation of targeted and immunotherapeutic strategies. I completed my PhD at Akdeniz University, where my doctoral research focused on evaluating the therapeutic potential of the multi-kinase inhibitor TAS-115 in a breast cancer lung metastasis model. During my PhD, I was awarded a TÜBİTAK 2214-A International Research Fellowship, which enabled me to conduct advanced research at Penn State University (USA). There, I integrated biofabrication and 3D bioprinting approaches into cancer modeling through interdisciplinary collaboration with bioengineering and biomedical research teams. My work has resulted in publications in international peer-reviewed journals, including Biofabrication, Small Science, Journal of Surgical Research, and Neuropharmacology. I have been actively involved in multiple TUBITAK- and BAP-funded research projects spanning oncology, immunology, neuroscience, and regenerative medicine.Alongside my research activities, I am engaged in academic teaching and mentoring, and I am committed to fostering collaborative, inclusive, and interdisciplinary research environments. Through my work, I aim to bridge innovative experimental cancer models with clinically relevant therapeutic strategies while continuing to develop leadership skills within the international cancer research community.
