Sam obtained his undergraduate degree in 2017 from the university of Edinburgh in development, stem cell and regeneration biology. He then did his PhD at the institute of molecular biotechnology in Vienna between 2017 and 2022, during which he generated mosaic genetic tools with multicolor imaging readouts in mice for studying cancer initiation. In June 2024, he moved to Basel to do his postdoc in the lab of Andreas Moor, and he is studying the cell-cell interactions during colorectal cancer metastasis using optical CRISPR screens with the support of an EMBO postdoctoral fellowship.
