Dr. Ivonne Nel is an assistant professor in medical research working in the field of circulating tumor cells for 15 years. She is heading the research lab in the Department of Gynaecology at the University of Leipzig, teaching and training numerous medical students in clinical gynaeco-oncology. She has established a pipeline to process and characterize the molecular and mechanical properties of matching cell and human tissue samples from different sites of the metastatic cascade. Her current focus is the investigation of potential biomarkers in minimal-invasive liquid biopsies of patients with gynaecological malignancies and breast cancer to improve prognosis.
