András Hatos, PhD is a bioinformatics engineer. He received his Master’s degree through a joint program at Pázmány University and Semmelweis University in Budapest.
During his PhD training, his research focused on the relationship between protein sequence, structure, and function, with a particular emphasis on intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs). He gained expertise in the development of biological databases and computational resources.
For his postdoctoral training, he joined the laboratory of Prof. Giovanni Ciriello at the University of Lausanne (UNIL), in collaboration with the laboratory of Prof. Olivier Michielin at the Precision Oncology Service, Geneva University Hospitals (HUG). His work focused on the design and development of web‑based services and bioinformatics tools to organize and prioritize oncological, clinical, and biochemical data from multiple sources. These efforts combined rule‑based prioritization with large language models (LLMs) to support evidence‑based, patient‑centric treatment decisions.
Building on his postdoctoral project, he is the founder and lead developer of OncoBoard, a joint initiative of UNIL, EPFL, and HUG originating from a PHRT (ETH Domain) funded project aimed at streamlining, standardizing, and enhancing the work of molecular tumor boards (MTBs) by providing augmented decision‑making support and advancing variant interpretation.
