CamielGobel UMC UtrechtNetherlands

Camiel Göbel is a postdoctoral researcher at UMC Utrecht in the group of Zsolt Sebestyén, where he studies molecular mechanisms that restrict anti-tumor immunity in solid cancers. He completed his PhD in cancer epigenetics, focusing on chromatin dependencies in germinal center B cell–like diffuse large B cell lymphoma (GCB-DLBCL). Using genome-wide CRISPR screening and functional genomics, he identified epigenetic regulators that sustain malignant B-cell identity and represent therapeutic vulnerabilities. His current work integrates CRISPR-based perturbation screens with advanced 3D tumor microenvironment models to define regulators of T cell infiltration in immune-resistant tumors. The goal is to uncover actionable targets that enhance adoptive T cell therapy and convert immunologically “cold” tumors into responsive disease.
