After receiving a Ph.D. in Cell Biology from UT Southwestern, Steve Mao completed his postdoctoral training at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and Harvard University. Steve started as an editor at Cell in 2012 and then joined Science in 2017 as the molecular biology, biotechnology and synthetic biology editor. Steve joined Cancer Cell as Editor-in-Chief in 2020.
