Dr. Henriett Butz, MD, PhD, DSc is a clinical geneticist and molecular diagnostics specialist with extensive expertise in hereditary cancer syndromes and tumourigenesis. She earned her medical degree and PhD in Clinical Medical Sciences from Semmelweis University, where she later completed specialisations in medical laboratory diagnostics, molecular genetic diagnostics, and clinical genetics. She subsequently undertook postdoctoral training at the Keenan Research Centre for Biomedical Science, St. Michael’s Hospital, Toronto, and in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology at the University of Toronto. Dr. Butz currently serves as Chief Physician in Clinical Genetics and Molecular Genetic Diagnostics at the Department of Molecular Genetics and as Head of the Department of Biobank of Oncology at the National Institute of Oncology. She is also a Senior Researcher at the HUN-REN Oncogenomics Research Group and a Principal Investigator at Semmelweis University’s Department of Laboratory Medicine. Her research focuses on hereditary cancer genetics, epigenetic mechanisms and hormonal regulation in endocrine and hormone-sensitive tumours, and translational applications of next-generation sequencing technologies.
